Every time our pet walks into our home, they are bringing a variety of dirt, germs, and grime with them as well. Over time, this can be damaging to floors and carpets. Nonetheless, it is not necessary to kick your pooch out just yet. There are some simple and effective things you can do to help prevent this problem.

Studies have shown that homes with dogs have more germs than those without dogs. This is due to the fact that our pets are tracking in mud, dirt, germs, and other microbes on their paws every time they go outside.

While humans can co-exist with certain types of microscopic organisms in a healthy way, we do not want to over expose ourselves and our families to more harmful contaminants. It is important to keep a clean and hygienic home.

Simple Solutions

One simple solution to this problem is to keep a mat at your doorstep. This will help to trap some of the dirt from your pet’s paws before they enter your home.

In addition, it is always a good idea to give your dog’s paws a quick wipe after they have been outside.  Again, this will help to eliminate some of the microbes that might otherwise be tracked into your home.

Also, it is important to bathe your pet regularly. This is yet another way to help eliminate some of those unwanted germs.

Despite all of your efforts to keep your pet’s paws clean, it is inevitable that some germs will be brought into the home. This is when routine cleaning habits play an important role.

For tile and hardwood floor cleaning, it is important to mop the area on a regular basis, paying special attention to those areas right by the door. Those high-traffic areas will hold the most germs.

For carpeted floors, vacuuming at least twice a week can help to rid your home of many unwanted germs. t is also important to have your carpets professionally cleaned a couple of times a year.

The next time you take your pet on a walk, remember to think about the uninvited house guests that they might be bringing back with them. You can be prepared to follow these steps in order to prevent large amounts of contaminants from entering your home. This will help to ensure that you are keeping a clean and healthy home for you and your family.
