"Tons" of recycling earns Harris Research Greenwise Business Award
Harris Research, Inc. encourages green practices at their corporate headquarters in Logan, Utah where employees recycled a total of 9.8 tons of paper and 8.02 tons of cardboard during 2010.
For this dedication to a green workplace, Interwest Paper, Inc and the Pro Recycling Group presented Harris Research with the Greenwise Business Recycling Achievement Award.
Harris Research President Craig Donaldson said, “We are honored to receive this award because we place great value on doing our part to help preserve the environment. Harris Research is always striving to find new ways to be more efficient with our resources and encouraging all employees to recycle.”
The Greenwise Business program strives to help businesses improve their recycling programs and rewards companies that contribute to helping the environment. Beau Peck, representative of the Pro Recycling Group said, with the combined amount of 17.82 tons of paper and cardboard recycled in 2010, Harris Research saved about 303 trees, 73,100 gallons of water, 6,800 gallons of oil and 72 cubic yards of landfill space.
As a Certified Greenwise Business™, Harris Research encourages recycling by placing bins in easily accessible locations throughout the building and educating employees about the importance of reducing waste for a healthier environment.
Harris Research owns two brands Chem-Dry Carpet, Tile and Upholstery Cleaning and N-Hance Revolutionary Wood Renewal. Chem-Dry cleaning extends the life of carpet and furniture, while N-Hance revitalizes old cabinets and transforms wood floors. Both services encourage customers to maintain and renew home resources, rather than replacing and creating more waste.
Chem-Dry’s carpet cleaning process is also green because hot carbonating extraction requires only one-fifth the amount of water as steam cleaning. The Natural®, Chem-Dry’s core cleaner, is also green certified by the FDA and approved as a safe product for the G.R.A.S. list.
Chem-Dry PhD chemist Ed Durant said, “Chem-Dry cares about the environment and its customers. It is for this reason we’ve worked so hard to produce quality cleaning solutions and services that are healthy for the environment and get the job done effectively.”
Chem-Dry, a subsidiary of The Home Depot, is the world’s largest carpet, tile and upholstery cleaning company with more than 4,000 franchises in 45 countries. For information about green carpet cleaning, visit www.chemdry.com/green or to schedule a carpet cleaning appointment, call 1-800-CHEM-DRY.
